South Dakota counties are invited to join in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. This historic milestone offers a meaningful opportunity to honor our shared heritage, celebrate local stories, and engage communities across this great state. Counties are encouraged to plan events, highlight local history, and take part in this once-in-a generation celebration.

The America 250th South Dakota Commission will provide guidance and ideas to help local leaders and organizations plan their own observances. Toolkits, resources, and partnership opportunities will be shared on the website and through the commission’s outreach efforts.
